Osho- on LOVE

THE BEST KOAN THERE IS, IS LOVE, in relationships. That's how it is being used here. A relationship is a puzzle with no clue to it. Howsoever you try to manage it, you will never be able to manage it. Nobody has ever been able to manage it. It is made in such a way that it simply remains puzzling. The more you try to demystify it, the more mysterious it becomes. The more you try to understand it, the more elusive it is.

I have been commenting my whole life on love, in thousands of different ways, but the message is the same. Just one fundamental thing has to be remembered: It is not the love that you think is love.

The love you know is nothing but a biological urge; it depends on your chemistry and your hormones. It can be changed very easily - a small change in your chemistry and the love that you thought was the "ultimate truth" will simply disappear. You have been calling lust "love." This distinction should be remembered.- OSHO (Love, Freedom, Aloneness- The Koan of Relationships)

- In this provocative book, Osho develops a contemporary vision of love without the bondage of morality / moral codes. Freedom and love are inseparable in Osho's vision. But aloneness is also part of it. For Osho, aloneness is not contrary to being loved, but it is rather complementary. Love, Freedom, Aloneness - this is the trinity for individual fulfillment in a modern society.

  1. Bhagwan Shree Rajneesh was the name I remember this man by. My father and I would have very long conversations about him and his controversial spiritual movement (back in those days) I completely agree with "most" of his teachings. I do believe that we "sometimes" confuse love for lust, and this does happen more than often as our society has been conceived in a superficial approach. I think that for those of us, lucky enough to have a deeper spiritual understanding of the difference between love and lust, we can completely appreciate the "trinity for individual fulfillment" and on a personal note, it is why and perhaps I’ve explained myself completely wrong, as I am not the best of speakers, but it is the main reason why I do not believe in traditional unions, or commercializing the ultimate connection of two individuals. I think there is nothing more pure than freedom, aloneness and love! Adriana
